Larry Bird Museum

With the opening of the new Larry Bird Museum, it is always basketball season in Terre Haute, Indiana. Like Larry Legend himself, the new Bird Museum is sure to thrill basketball fans of all stripes. From Indiana school boy and college legend, to NBA champion and MVP, culminating with the original Olympic Dream Team, through NBA Head Coach and Executive the, Larry Bird story is sure to inspire all visitors.

BPI scored a double-double designing and producing both interactive and linear media in this immersive basketball experience. Our teammates, Hilferty and Associates and Ravenswood Studios, were draining threes and crashing the boards in an amazing show of stellar exhibit design and fabrication. 

Game-dominating video on a 15-foot LCD video wall attracts visitors with Bird’s biggest highlights and original, up-close moments introducing Larry in a two-segment looping video. Larry’s career of unmatched accomplishments is covered in six zones. Each zone has an interactive station which combines an entertaining, educational game with original video elements.

Being in the paint with Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Bill Walton, Dominique Wilkins, Kevin McHale, Pat Riley, Bob Ryan, and Jackie MacMullen has been an extraordinary experience. It was an honor to interview Bird of course, but the generosity and respect of his teammates, competitors, coaches, and sports writers who tell fascinating stories about Bird from the hardwood, the locker room, and beyond reveal the true stature of one of the all-time greats.
