Packing the West – Western Writers of America

BPI collaborated with Western Writers of America to develop Packing the West, a distance learning program consisting of a series of short scripted videos and accompanying curricula. Packing the West’s main goal is to inspire young people to become engaged with history, civic topics, and to learn how people of many backgrounds helped shape America. The project involves four young modern students who travel back in time to meet historical characters. This gives them a chance to learn the stories of the Legends & Characters, Women of the Old West, Western Trails, and American Indians who shaped the nation.

Packing the West has won the Gold Award for Digital Education from the Southeast Museum Association and First Place multimedia from Mountains and Plains Museum Association.
