Schifferdecker & Zelleken Historic Homes

Discover the history of Joplin, Missouri through the prominent family homes of the Schifferdeckers and the Zellekens.  Storytelling with a Victorian flair!  These magnificently restored homes come to life through the “voices” of the families as their stories of immigration, accomplishment and community engagement unfold through the rooms.  While each home, and each family, has an individual story their work together was everlasting.  Audio tours offer insight to the architecture and the restoration as well as create a personal guided tour from family members.  Projection mapping accompanies the personal storytelling and allows guests to become part of the story and the events unfolding on the evening of a dinner party that changes the future of Joplin.  Experience the beauty of these homes and their families’ impact on southwest Missouri.
