The Blackstone Valley Polar Express
The Blackstone Valley Polar Express is a cherished experience for many in the area, so it was already a winner, but with a sprinkle of contemporary magic, it became a dazzling spectacle of light, interaction, and digital artistry, guaranteed to awe both the young and young at heart.
BPI, with the help of Testa Lighting, transformed the environment with cutting-edge theatrical lighting that bathed the train, depot, and “North Pole” in immersive hues. This enchanting illumination sets the perfect mood from the get-go, turning a simple train ride into an entrancing journey.
In the Christmas village where visitors go to mill and shop while waiting for their train to arrive, we introduced a delightful green screen extravaganza. Here, kids (and let’s be honest, adults too!) can shimmy and shake in front of the camera, trying on digital outfits to morph into cheerful elves, a commanding train conductor, or even Santa Claus himself. It’s dress-up reimagined for the digital age, creating share-worthy moments and endless giggles.
The centerpiece of our upgrade was a breathtaking animated projection that spanned the entire wall of the train depot. As visitors queued when they first arrived, we snapped a quick picture of their face. By the time they returned from their mystical train ride, they were not just spectators but stars in their own right. This dynamic video showcased a lively winter scene with elves, snowmen, wolves, and reindeer – all featuring the faces of our guests. It was a personal touch that transformed a great experience into an unforgettable one, leaving kids awe-struck and adults touched by the magic of the season.
